WHAT A GREAT GUIDE!! Packed with 380 pages of information plus pages for notes and a map. Wish I had this guide when I was living in Erbil from 2003 to 2004. High-quality paper and color photos. A must for all who plan to visit Kurdistan. Should be required reading for U.S. Troops if they return to the area.

Jason Siegel, Story of Cradle of Civilization - September 21, 2015

This book is far more than a Tour Guide; its also history book with beautiful color photos. I have not been to Kurdistan yet, but I will certainly use this book when I do go. I can't wait to make the Rice Kubba from the recipe section of the book.

Absolutely beautiful, gorgeous, AWESOME work, 100% worth every penny!! From the author (Douglas Layton): "Few realize that the Guide cost over $200,000 US to publish and that book sales alone do not begin to cover the cost of the production. Without the sponsors, the book would not have been possible to produce. It is a statement by the corporations in Kurdistan that they believe in the future of their region and a message to the world that despite the current crisis they are full of hope for this amazing land. I might mention that a portion of the proceeds of book sales goes to the refugees and IDPs in Kurdistan and to the preservation of the historical sites of the land." And for those readers also interested in keeping up with the latest news from Kurdistan Region, I highly recommend both Rudaw and BasNews (just click on the "English" or "en" word to get to the English-language versions). Bottom line: you will love and save and treasure this book forever!!!

This is a truly beautiful book, full of great pictures, and it's stuffed with information that I'm finding very useful in planning a trip to Kurdistan. It's not perfect, and I found the ads annoying, but it does what it's supposed to do very well. I gave it five stars instead of four, because it's so much better than anything else that exists right now, and I'm very grateful for it.

I have just received my copy from Amazon and am impressed. I have read a little about the Kurds and have seen news coverage on CNN and specials on 60 Minutes highlighting the ISIS invasion and refugee crisis. However, I didn't appreciate what a beautiful land Kurdistan embodies. It's culture and people are fascinating. As a person of Middle Eastern descent, I am enjoying the recipes, too. Congratulations to the publishing team, your love and dedication are apparent in every page

The warming relations between Kurdistan and the West has compelled many travelers to cast aside their uncertainties and to explore this beautiful country teeming with beautiful ancient decorated mosques, temples, the famous citadel, striking monuments and not to mention mouthwatering food. I recommend this book to everyone especially for those who has never been to Kurdistan.

This is a great resource for those interested in the Middle East---not just regarding politics and religion, but history, culture, and flora/fauna as well. The research is top-notch and the pictures and layout are beautiful as well. Kurdistan is definitely an up-and-coming region/country and though it's currently "off the beaten path" it is completely worth-while for Westerners and others in general to devote some time to helping Kurdistan remain vibrant and unique

This gorgeous book is not only a tour guide: It showcases the extensive history and beautiful culture of the wonderful people of this breathtaking country. It contains all you need to know about Kurdistan and the original photographic images, as well as the insights to the local traditions, will inspire curiosity, to explore this historic region of the world on your next holiday overseas.

Beautifully printed and elegantly told! This is one exciting guidebook! It combines marvelous pictures of this stunning, historic land along with an easy to read narrative of all the things to see and do. This country was certainly the place of many early historic events. This guide is filled with beautiful narrative, told through the eyes of people who obviously love their country very much! Every page had me saying "Wow, I didn't know that" again and again. A delightful read with everything you need to know to enjoy Kurdistan!

Mara Ussino – Asti Italy - June 18, 2015

I am at home reading the guide, and it is absolutely fantastic. I was sure it would have been a very good one but I didn't think it was so fabulous. I am an "expert" about guides because I have always used them of course. I love a lot to read them too, even the ones about countries I will never visit and I can tell you that it is one of the best I have ever read! I want to tell you that you have done a masterpiece!!!!

Laila Gustafsson, Sweden (have made three trips to Kurdistan, in 2012, 2013 and 2015) - June 16, 2015

EXTENSIVE, UP-TO-DATE and CAREFULLY PREPARED is this Tour Guide about a fascinating area in the world. This book is not only for the adventurous souls, but for everyone that is curious to know more about this other side of Iraq. This guide will enrich your trip to Kurdistan and be a valuable help with the details. As the editor describes it ”Short adventures in this captivating ”land between the rivers” can easily turn into a life time of exploration.”

Look at the scenery in the background. That's one of the reasons why I love my land so much, it's simply beautiful.

Joseph Peterson/ New York, NY - May 20, 2015

As a history buff, the Kurdistan Guide book enabled me to study and enjoy reading about the different factions that make up this part of the world. There is much to learn and this book makes it easy. The photos and graphics alone are worth the purchase price. I enjoy armchair traveling.

Rebecca Shelton – Boynton Beach, Florida - May 20, 2015

I am exceptionally impressed with the wonderful insight to such culture, history and beauty.  The cuisine portion was fascinating as well as the agriculture with such unique flowers and gardens.

Georgette C. Sinclair / New York, NY - May 13, 2015

As a woman of Middle Eastern descent I am particularly fascinated with the Kurdistan Guide book. This work is artistically beautiful, as well as informative. It can be utilized as an historical text, too. Each section has something to offer, whether one is merely curious, a businessperson or an avid traveler. After viewing this cumulative body of work, you'll want to travel this beautiful country, too.
